What We Really Want For Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day is quickly approaching.

As I think back over the last several years of Mother’s Days I couldn’t be happier that God blessed me with two amazing Littles…that in itself, on a daily basis, is gift enough for me.  However, in the event that my family or yours happens to reference this blog for Mother’s Day gift ideas…I thought I’d leave a few hints out here.

I don’t know about the rest of you Mamas but below are a few things that I would love for Mother’s Day.  They don’t include diamonds, expensive jewelry, or overpriced flowers. I don’t need those things…just some simple, everyday completed tasks will do.  I’m sure that all you Mamas out there can relate! 🙂

  1. Stop on the side of the road and pick some wild flowers, pair it with a homemade card…you’ll make my day.
  2. Hugs and kisses….lots of hugs and kisses.
  3. Don’t complain about anything I cook or ask you to do…it is only one day…I think you will survive.
  4. When you are done pooping, yell for Daddy…I’m not the only one in this house who has “rear wiping” in their list of skillsets.
  5. For the love of all things good and holy….the trash has smelled like something died in it for the last 24 hours, someone please take it out besides me.
  6. Someone please make and clean up dinner without asking “Where is “X” at?” or “Where does “Y” go?”.  Better yet, stop for take-out…no one will have to cook, the mess will be easy to clean up…and since there’s not room in the trash can perhaps gift idea #5 will also be fulfilled.
  7. With regards to laundry; please don’t ask if “X or Y” is clean. Today, check for yourself.  If it’s not clean, clean it.
  8. Mommy doesn’t want to clean up or sit in pee today….so please aim for the circle in the middle of that that big, white, porcelain object you are standing in front of…not the cabinet, the shower curtain, the floor, the wall, or the trashcan.
  9. A glass of wine (OK, maybe a bottle) and a hot bath…without an audience or having to get out three times to address some type of immediate crisis such as a lost Paw Patrol pup or an app that won’t download that you feel must be addressed AT THIS VERY MOMENT.
  10. Using the bathroom alone – see criteria from gift idea #9.
  11. A candy bar all to myself that I can consume in front of all of you without having to sneak in the closet and inhale it within seconds without being able to savor the goodness…just so I don’t have to share. 🙂
  12. A cleaning fairy. A real one. I bought a fairy for the fairy garden three weeks ago…the lazy hussy hasn’t moved since.
  13. To have a warm cup of coffee straight out of the pot the first time….not after it’s been warmed up in the microwave three times where I can now chew it.  Chewing my coffee just doesn’t give me the same warm fuzzy feeling as sitting down the first time and savoring every last warm drop.
  14. Someone feed the dogs today. I realize they were here before you and they are not actually your responsibility but I don’t want to feed anyone today…so just help me out here.
  15. I want to watch HGTV and Super Soul Sunday without one person groaning, rolling their eyes, or making fun of me. There are three other TVs in this house you can go watch.  Mommy needs this.
  16. You can’t find it? For today, it is lost…we will look tomorrow.  Enough said.
  17. Target…I want to go alone. I just want to wander aimlessly for at least two hours and look for clearance items that we probably don’t need, but that I will buy because I will feel genuine satisfaction in getting last season’s items for 70% off.
  18. For today I don’t want to have to ask “Why is this wet?”, “Who didn’t flush the toilet?”, or “Who did this?” for the tenth time.
  19. A nap. A true nap.  Or maybe just sleeping in until 8:00…that would be equally as amazing.
  20. And last but not least, I don’t care if you take a shower, brush your teeth, or wear your socks today…nor am I going to remind you, because I just don’t want to hear you cry about it today. So soak up the freedom, break all the rules, have stinky breath and feet today.  It’s Mother’s Day and I refuse to let your lack of personal hygiene raise my blood pressure 🙂

What did I miss? What’s on your Mother’s Day wish list?

  1. These are all so true! and most are FREE! 🙂 I would like to have nothing out of its place for just a day…and to have a drink without someone else’s backwash in it. I would love to have bedtime go smoothly so that I can actually enjoy snuggling with them for a little bit instead of begging them to go to sleep!

  2. I absolutely love this Vanessa!!! I feel like we have the exact same needs and wants, especially a nap! Sometimes, I just need one & it doesn’t matter why… Mommies get tired too!
